'It was the wild west': Retired journalist's novel offers insider's look at the oilsands industry

Claudia Cattaneo clearly subscribes to that adage to write what you know.
The retired journalist spent 25 years of her four-decade career covering the energy sector for the National Post.
But journalism can be somewhat limited when it comes to storytelling, Cattaneo says. That, combined with her desire to write a novel after retiring, is what led to The Canada Project, a thriller based around a star Wall Street journalist covering the Canadian energy sector out of Calgary.
